Sea‑Flux is a cloud-based platform designed to simplify fleet and vessel management by digitising key operations like safety checks, maintenance schedules, crew logs, compliance and reporting. It’s a powerful tool, but one that isn’t always easy to explain quickly or clearly.

That’s where animation comes in.

When Sea‑Flux approached us, we recommended creating a 2D animated explainer to help tell their story. An animated explainer is a short video that takes complex ideas and presents them in a way that’s simple, engaging and easy to understand. It often includes technical information, broken down into digestible content with strong visual cues and narration.

For Sea‑Flux, animation was the ideal solution for three key reasons:

1. It simplifies the complex
Sea‑Flux’s cloud-native software is rich in features, but also quite technical. Animation allowed us to visualise how the platform works, data flows, syncing, alerts, offline access and turn that into a narrative anyone can follow. Instead of listing features in text, we showed them in action. Research shows viewers retain up to 95% of a message through video compared to just 10% through text.

2. It grabs and holds attention
In a digital world where everyone’s scrolling past content in seconds, animation can stop people in their tracks. The mix of motion graphics, sound design, and voiceover creates an experience that holds attention just long enough to deliver real value. These videos consistently outperform static content when it comes to engagement, click-throughs and conversions.

3. It builds brand identity
Animation gives complete control over how your brand is represented. From colour palette to iconography, tone of voice to pace, we tailored every frame to match Sea‑Flux’s brand. The result is a video that feels cohesive and instantly recognisable, whether viewed on their website, at trade shows or in pitch decks.

What the process looks like

Creating a high-quality animated explainer starts with a solid foundation. That means investing time upfront in scripting, visual development, and sign-off on style frames. Pre-production is where most of the effort lies. Once those pieces are approved, the actual animation process tends to move quickly.

While animation isn’t always the cheapest video option, it’s incredibly effective, especially when you’re trying to explain a technical product or service in a compelling way.
